Seu Jorge: his album with Almaz feels like a future classic

This month's top releases are headed up by a brilliant covers album by Brazilian singer Seu Jorge, and the Manic Street Preachers and Richard Thompson on peak form. Elsewhere there is South African pianist Kyle Shepherd, Argentinian "eccentric mystic" Axel Krygier and dance music from Underworld and Superpitcher and "like a Humberside Randy Newman" Paul Heaton. Reviewers are Sue Steward, Joe Muggs, Russ Coffey, Peter Culshaw, Kieron Tyler, Marcus O'Dair, Bruce Dessau and Howard Male.

Lovely review of the new Richard T, but I’m sure “Here Comes Geordie” is a lot more mischievous than "a classic tale of greed” suggests. Listen more closely to those lyrics: a Geordie boy whose singing voice miraculously changed from Tyneside to Jamaican; who’s “as righteous as can be - off to save the planet once again in his private plane”. Vain, conceited, a terrible actor. Who on earth can RT be talking about?

..thanks Graeme. Yes you are right. Sloppy listening on my part. Should have read, Stinging attack on vanity ...........

I'm not sure about the Glottle Stop Nashisms in Rose Elinor Dougall's song "I think I was once beautiful to you Oh I was once beautiful to you" seems quite clear to me And on Find me out "I don't think I am any Of the things you said I am." I would argue her diction is clearer and lyrics more clear than very many others. I see no link at all with Nash (thankfully)
