Project Assistant, Sky Arts Ignition Series

Contract: Part-time (21.6 hours a week), temporary (1 June – 30 September 2012)

Tate Liverpool is one of the largest galleries of modern and contemporary art outside of London, showing the Tate Collection in new and innovative ways alongside special exhibitions of international art.
Tate Liverpool is partnering with Sky Arts to produce a new project, the ‘Sky Arts Ignition Series’, commissioning a new piece of public art from US artist Doug Aitken. Aitken is at the forefront of 21st Century art and communication and this will be his first installation in the UK public realm. His work will be unveiled during, and form a part of, the seventh Liverpool Biennial, the largest contemporary art festival in the UK.
As Project Assistant, you’ll provide comprehensive administrative support to the Exhibitions and Displays Curator. You’ll work with external and internal members of the delivery team to support the successful planning and delivery of the project. This will involve liaising with all contractors, advisors and suppliers including Liverpool City Council, Sky, the architect commissioned to design the installation and the artist.
You’ll need strong and accurate administrative skills, and experience of supporting the delivery of a visual art project. An excellent communicator, you are competent in all levels of administrative IT, and are experienced in maintaining financial records and working with budgets. You’re organised and efficient, and can work well as part of team, managing your time effectively whilst working to tight deadlines.
