Music Programmer
Classical Music
21 to 28 hours per week
The Barbican presents an unrivalled world class artistic programme across all art forms. The Music Department, together with the Resident Orchestra and Associates, presents an unrivalled music programme and we are keen to build on a formidable reputation going forward.
As a member of the Barbican’s programming team, the Music Programmer will support the Head of Music in defining the direction for classical music, and will manage the bulk of the classical music programme at the Barbican and at off-site locations. The successful candidate will work to develop excellent partnerships with our resident orchestra, the LSO, our associate orchestras and ensembles and other artistic partners including the Guildhall School of Music and Drama, as well as initiate new partnerships.
Having already worked on programming music events in a major music or multi-disciplinary environment you will be experienced in initiating, planning and managing music programmes and projects, and have an excellent track record in fostering partnerships and collaborations. You will have in depth knowledge and interest in classical music, and will be well connected within the industry. You will also have good management skills in terms of dealing with people and budgets.
