Influential Merseybeat band The Searchers are being given the box set treatment for the first time. Their jangly guitar and folk harmonies were a major component of The Byrds’s sound. Sweets, Spice, Sugar, Pins and Needles: A Compendium of Harmony and Jangle is a four disc box with 121 tracks. It's the first complete career retrospective of the band, who scored hit after hit between 1963 and 1967 and takes the story into the late Seventies when they were label-mates of The Ramones and Talking Heads. Their sound was timeless. Liner notes come from Jon Savage and St Etienne’s Bob Stanley. The release date is 28 June.
