Kerrang! announces nominees for 2012 award ceremony

Pop-punk band You Me At Six lead the nominations for this year's Kerrang! Awards, the shortlists for which have been published today.

The Surrey five-piece have nods in four categories, including Best British Band, Best Album and two shouts for Best Single. Fellow Brits Young Guns, Enter Shikari and Asking Alexandria are all up for two awards each.

The alternative music magazine has teamed up with Relentless Energy Drink for this year's ceremony, which will take place on Thursday, 7th June ("the same week as the Queen's Diamond Jubilee") - and this year is branching out with awars for the best in films, television, video games and comedy. And, indicating that no achievement is too inane for recognition, another new category will recognise the "Tweeter of the Year".
